Coronavirus information – 25 March 2020

Dear Society Members

It is with regret that I write to inform you of the decision by the Keepers of the Quaich Management Committee to cancel the Spring 2020 Banquet. This decision has been made in light of the escalating impact of the coronavirus outbreak and the deep sense of uncertainty it is inflicting upon the lives of so many people and businesses across the globe.

As you will have read in my letter of 27th February, we had initially been hoping to postpone the Spring Banquet to a later date in 2020, but following further consultation with the Patrons and all our fellow member companies, the Management Committee has since come to the conclusion that it would be more responsible and prudent to cancel the event forthwith. As such, we wanted to reach out to all members of the Society to make you aware of our decision and to reassure you all that (coronavirus-permitting), we remain firmly committed to staging the Autumn Banquet on
5th October 2020.

On behalf of the Society, we thank all our members you for your patience and sincerely hope that despite the sense of disappointment and frustration for many, you will appreciate the rationale behind the cancellation, especially given the extraordinary challenges now being faced by so many.

I am afraid that this also means that the Spring issue of The Keeper will no longer be printed but we very much look forward to producing an extended issue later in the year. In the meantime, the website will soon have some fabulous new archive material for you to enjoy, so in case you’re not yet connected, please don’t forget register on

On the music front, we hope that you enjoyed receiving and listening to the recording Spirit of the Quaich for which we’ve had some fabulous feedback. You can also now download Spirit of the Quaich here.

In the meantime and on behalf of everyone at Keepers of the Quaich, our thoughts are with you all to stay safe and well over the coming weeks and months ahead. We would like to know that you have received this and to be able to keep in touch so request you email us at with your address and roll number so we can update our records.

With Best Wishes

Peter Prentice,
