Bunnahabhain 2007 - Cask 19
The Management Committee are delighted to announce the sixth in our exclusive collection of Keepers of the Quaich unique Scotch Whisky bottlings.
The sixth bottling has been chosen from a small selection of hand-picked cask samples from Bunnahabhain Distillery by our longest-serving Managing Committee member, Fraser Thornton. This is the first of our bottlings to have been produced and matured on Islay. The spirit was filled into a first fill hogshead in 2007 and re-racked into a Palo Cortado hogshead for a further five years making it 14 years old.
The spirit has not been chill-filtered and has been bottled at 55%. The outturn of the cask yielded 327 bottles.
Colour: Rich, glowing amber, good beading..
Nose: Discreet maritime notes of salt crystals and orange zest, on a base of buttery brioche.
Palate: Lightly oily and surprisingly intense. Momentarily sweet, then salty and spicy. Softer when reduced.
Finish: Long and spicy, with lingering salt. A formidable Bunnahabhain.
