Glenfiddich 2000 - Refill American Hogshead
The Management Committee are delighted to announce the fourth in our exclusive collection of Keepers of the Quaich unique Scotch Whisky bottlings.
The fourth bottling has been chosen from a careful selection of hand-picked cask samples from Glenfiddich Distillery. This expression was bottled in July 2019 after a 19-year maturation journey in refill American hogshead casks which began in February 2000.
The spirit has not been chill-filtered and has been bottled at 57.4%. The outturn of the cask yielded 262 bottles, so Keepers will initially be limited to one bottle each.
Colour: Bright shimmering lemon gold.
Nose: Delicately fragrant. Meadowsweet, angelica. Victoria plums in honey, old Chartreuse. Spring walk among wildflowers.
Palate: Satin-like. Honey on warm waffles, followed by a spicy outburst. Crystallised ginger. Fizzy feel.
Finish: Lingering, drying on spices. Herbal touch and fresh almond aftertaste.
The spirit shimmers lemon gold, before fragrant meadowsweet and honeysuckle emerge. Then the nose yields baked apples, Mirabelle plum and Tarocco orange with sticky Danish pastries and apple strudel. It delivers tongue tingling mace, white pepper, ginger, sweet paprika with salted caramel and toasted malt loaf drizzled with manuka honey in the finish.
