The Societies bespoke tartan has roots dating back to the 1700s
The Keepers of the Quaich tartan is based on a similar design from the 1700’s.
The tartan was specially designed for the Society and is unique. The colours represent the three ingredients used in the production of Scotch Whisky. The blue represents the water: the gold evokes images of ripening barley, and the brown the rich layers of peat used to fire the kilns during the malting process.
Only Keepers are entitled to wear the Highland dress and formal evening dress made of this rich tartan.
